Bristol is a city that’s more and more popular with tourists, known for its art, sports, culture and different festivals. Recently, Bristol was named Britain’s most liveable city.

Places of interest

There are many beautiful places to visit in Bristol. The very popular places to visit there are:

  • Bristol’s harbor and port which used to be a commercial port in the 20th century but it is now a 21st century development with restaurants and watersports

  • The Clifton suspension bridge, symbol of the city, noted for its beauty

  • The Bristol museum and art gallery, to see Egyptian mummies and the famous Bristol dinosaurs

Historical background

Bristol has a rich maritime heritage. By the 14th century, the city was trading with several countries including Spain, Portugal and Iceland. In the id 18th century, Bristol became England’s second biggest city. During this time, Britain was flooded with goods imported via Bristol such as tobacco and cocoa. By the 19th century, the success of Bristol’s port was beginning to decline.

Bristol is known for its lively festivals every year:

-Europe’s largest ballooning event, the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is held in August with more than 100 hot air balloons taking part.

-The Bristol Harbor festival takes place over a long weekend July and you can enjoy all things nautical, top food, drinks and live entertainment for free.

Liverpool is a major English city and a metropolitan borough located in Northwest England . The history of Liverpool can be tracked to 1190 when the place was known as “liverpul”.

  • The city was founded by a royal charter in 1207, but Liverpool remained a small settlement until it’s trade with Ireland and Wales and costal parts of England, and later then with West Indies and Africa, wich included Slave trade.

  • The city of Liverpool has a greater number of public sculptures than any other location in the United Kingdom such as the beatles statue, Liverpool Biennial. And also Anfield Stadium, where you can watch Liverpool football club.

  • Liverpool specialises in unique festivals and celebrations in all forms like arts, Music, performance and even food and drinks. Many celebrations like sound city, river festival are really nice and fun activities to do in Liverpool!

Liverpool is a maritime city in England. It is located in the northwest between the River Mercey and the Irish Sea.

There are plenty of different places of interest. Liverpool held the title ‘’the European capital of culture’’ in 2007 along with Stavanger. There is the Liverpool maritime city which includes Pier Head, Albert Dock and William Brown Street.

There are two football clubs from the barclays premier league, Liverpool fc and Everton.

They are known to be the mereyside derby

Every year there is the grand national horse race that takes in the outskirts of the city. According to the guiness world records, liverpool is home to the ‘’world capital city of pop’’, this is earned thanks to the beatles and others. It is a very cultural city holding the oldest black and chineese community in Europe. It is also one of the most trading parts in the world.

History

Liverpool was founded in 1207 by King John although in the 16th century the population was around half a thousand. By the the beginning of the 18th century the population was rapidly increasing because of the slave trade. During the 1840s here was a large irish community that entered the city beacause of the great famine in their country. The albert dock was built in 1846 and today has the largest single collection of grade 1 buildings in britain. The liverpool town hall was buil in 1754 and is city’s finest piece of georgian architecture. The liverpool cathedral built in the 12th century is one of the oldest churches.

Special events in liverpool

There will take place the liverpool international horse show, the second of january of 2017. Show jumpers from all around the world. The winner will have a prize of £160,000. There will be music from the UK best ABBA tribute band 'Revival', the Shetland Pony Grand National, carriage driving with teams competing in a speed challenge, the Black Fire Girls, etc.

Location:

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. The town is located in the south-est of Scotland in front of the North Sea.

The old city is an interest place to visit thanks by the architecture which is neo-classical. Moreover the Edinburgh Castle takes place in the old city.

Holyrood park is a royal park in central Edinburgh which takes 260 ha. There is the highest point of view with the cliffs of Salisbury Crags. The park was created in 1541 for the king James V. Perfect place to make a walk.

History:

Edinburgh was born in Middle Age, at the 7th to the 10th century. In the 14th , Edinburgh became the capital of Scotland because the kings made their castle there. In 1603, Scotland and England became Great Britain with Jack VI who mixed the countries. Edinburgh stayed the capital of Scotland but she did not keep her power. Edinburgh grew up thanks by the industrial revolution and the population increase.
